Frank Meyer is a Munich and Berlin based Director of Photography and he will continue not talking about himself in third person…

 

After an internship at FGV Schmidle rental my professional life began as a Focus Puller in Berlin, mostly for feature films, commercials and music clips.

At the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) I studied Cinematography and had the chance to learn from teachers such as Michael Ballhaus, Slavomir Idziak, Bela Tarr and Volker Schlöndorff

 

I finished with the award-winning feature film „Der Blinde Fleck“ .

 

So far I shot 10 feature films and numerous music videos, commercials, corporate films and prime time tv formats for major German networks like ProSieben and ZDF.

My visual work for acclaimed artist Clemens von Wedemeyer was exhibited at documenta13, MomA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou and film festivals as Cannes or Berlinale.

 

Since 2013 I work with my own steadicam equipment. Rarely I do some „only“ operator-work, which became some of the rare possibilities to see some colleagues at work… But most of the time the steadicam is used at the films I shoot as DoP.
